Hello My Name Is...

Chris Eberhardt
Chris Eberhardt

I am honored to serve the Jefferson County School District as the Principal of McLain Community and Long View High Schools. Our unique community is unlike any other educational setting in Colorado.

I have been an educator for 30 years and started my career as a teacher and coach at Northwest High School in Grand Island, Nebraska.  I first taught Psychology, Sociology and American History for 12 years after graduating from the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK).  I went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Secondary School Counseling at UNK and designed and directed the first alternative education program at Northwest High School for 10 years.  I then earned a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska and became the assistant principal at Northwest High School for 3 years before moving west to Colorado. Also at Northwest I coached football and basketball for 22 seasons. In Colorado I first served as Principal at Eagle Academy, an alternative education high school in Douglas County, for 3 years and now I am in my 2nd year as Principal at McLain Community and Long View High Schools. I have two grown sons that both live and work in Omaha, Nebraska for a large construction company as a project engineer and carpenter.  I enjoy all that our beautiful Rocky Mountain state has to offer and explore as much as I can by foot or by pedaling a bicycle.  I have been a lifelong learner and am excited each day to work with our team of leaders and educators to create educational opportunities for students that lead to careers and post-secondary education.
