Students who do not fulfill these expectations in one or more classes in a quarter will be placed in 2nd Chance the following quarter. Upon completing 2nd Chance, a student can earn the right to return as a full-time student for the following quarter.
Attendance Performance Expectations
- Regular school attendance is the number one factor in determining a student’s on-time graduation from high school.
- Students who reach 6 unexcused absences to any one class or period in a quarter will be placed in 2nd Chance.
- A student’s placement in 2nd Chance will occur immediately upon the 6th absence or at the conclusion of the quarter for the next quarter.
- All absences are unexcused unless a doctor’s note or court excuse is presented.
- Students who leave (ditch out or skip) will be marked unexcused for the entire day.
- Three tardies to any one class counts as one unexcused absence to a class.
- A student may earn credit for the class in which they fail to meet the attendance requirement.
Academic Performance Expectations
- Students are expected to pass every class they are enrolled in each quarter.
- If a student fails to pass all classes in one quarter they will be placed on Academic Probation for the next quarter. Any student who does not pass ALL classes during their quarter of Academic Probation may be placed in 2nd Chance the next quarter.
