Credit Recovery

Students and staff standing in a circle

Sometimes students fall short in a class they need to graduate. At McLain, our staff understands and wants every student to graduate. As a result, McLain offers multiple ways for students to regain the ground they have lost toward their goal.

Aside from the opportunity to retake a class, McLain also offers an online resource called Edgenuity which has a vast library of Jeffco-approved courses for students. Under this program, students can retake a class with an assigned teacher mentor to assist them with in-person help when necessary. This opportunity is offered on Fridays or via independent study so as to not interrupt students’ other weekly classes.

Credit Recovery in Jeffco

Jeffco Public Schools knows that students may experience challenges that impact their progress toward graduation. We care deeply about helping every student and family understand the options available to get back on track and move forward with confidence.

Credit recovery gives students an opportunity to make up credits needed for graduation. Options may look different by school, so the best first step is to contact your student’s school counselor. Your school counselor knows your student, understands the school’s available supports, and can help explain the best options for your student’s path.

Counselor phone numbers and email addresses can be found on your school’s website.

If you have already connected with your school and would like additional guidance, you may also contact Jeffco’s Student Engagement Office to consult with a student engagement advocate.
