RISE
RISE at McLain Community High School is a two-year program designed to support younger high schoolers lacking ninth- and 10th-grade credits. Classes rotate from year to year between ninth- and 10th-grade curriculums.
RISE is the smallest of McLain’s youth programs, with a capped enrollment of 54 students and small classes. RISE is designed to help struggling students become high school and life-ready.
RISE’s six-week grading terms keep students engaged and earning credits. Students have four 60-minute class periods each day. Seminar (homeroom) focuses on community building and social-emotional learning. The first and last six-week grading periods focus on electives. During the middle four grading periods, students will have two academic classes at a time to earn 0.5 credits for each class in six weeks.
RISE prepares students for a successful transition to another McLain program or school of choice.
