Special Education

A group of students posing in from of the mountains while it snows.

The special education team at McLain High School is made up of learning specialists who support students in the classroom and mental health providers who work with students in a variety of settings.

Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) may be placed in co-taught classes, which have support staff in the class, or they may receive help by visiting the Learning Support Lab. This space provides students access to an alternate setting that is comforting and welcoming and monitored by a special education teacher or para educator. Students can work independently here, or they can get help from a support staff member.

Students on IEPs are assigned a case manager to ensure their support plans are relevant and up-to-date. Each year they will have a meeting to review their plans, and they will also have access to support staff every day they are in school.

Parents and guardians who have questions about special education at McLain are welcome to contact the school and ask for a special education member to contact them.
