JCAPPP
The mission of the Jefferson County Adolescent Pregnancy and Parenting Program (JCAPPP) is to provide a comprehensive program to support and empower young parents through:
- Family health and child development education
- Parenting practices and skills acquisition
- Early childhood education
- Health care education and resources
- Mental health support
- Family advocacy
Overview
JCAPPP allows students to attend high school full-time and receive credit toward their high school diploma while also receiving parenting support. Additionally, students have the opportunity to bring their child to the fully licensed, on-site childcare center while at school.
Upon enrolling in JCAPPP, students will take high school core classes and electives in addition to courses in, child development and family living and parenting, all of which are required for all JCAPPP students. A full-time registered nurse is on-site to assist with medical concerns and breastfeeding support.
McLain accepts students at the beginning of the school year as well as throughout the school year.
