I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Columbus, OH. I went to college at The Ohio State University, where I earned a degree in International Development. A week after my college graduation, I moved to Swaziland. I lived in Swaziland for 3 years, working in education, project management, and sustainable agriculture, at several orphanages and non-profits.
After 3 years in Swaziland, I moved back to Columbus. In Columbus, I worked for alternative high schools for 5 years, teaching social studies. I earned my M.Ed. from Ohio University while I was living in Ohio, where I focused my research on evidence-based trauma-informed interventions to support the mental health of high school students. I also earned a certificate in Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Ohio University.
While in Columbus, I developed a passion for rock climbing. I spent most weekends driving four hours to Red River Gorge, Kentucky, to climb. During the summer of 2018 I took a road trip around the western U.S. exploring different climbing areas and spent 2 weeks in Colorado. After this trip, I began making plans to move to Colorado to follow my passion for climbing. I moved to Colorado at the beginning of the summer of 2019.
I have been thrilled to be working with the adult learners at McLain Community High School. I am excited to have been given the opportunity to support the needs of our students by teaching them about world history, social-emotional learning skills, and the importance of developing and maintaining habits that support their physical and mental health.
